When Your Heart Is Divided: Building A Whole Life on God's Promises
5 Day Devotional
This five-day devotional will be taking a deeper dive into the sermon from Sunday, September 28, 2025. Together, we will explore how collective prayer unlocks God's power, overcoming challenges that seem impossible through faith, and surrendering our own control.
Day 1: Whole-Hearted Worship
Scripture: Psalm 111:1; Romans 5:1-2
The psalmist calls us to praise God with our whole heart, emphasizing the importance of undivided worship. This is not just a personal act but a communal one, binding us to God and each other. Reflect on areas where your heart might be divided and ask God to help you offer Him your full devotion.
Reflect on a time when you struggled to give God your whole heart. How did it affect your worship?
What steps can you take to ensure your worship is whole-hearted?
How does worship in community strengthen your faith?
Prayer: Lord, help me to worship You with an undivided heart. Show me where I hold back and teach me to give You my all. Amen.
Day 2: Pondering God’s Works
Scripture: Psalm 111:2; Exodus 19:3-6
The psalmist encourages us to ponder God’s amazing deeds. Reflect on His creation, the cross, and personal miracles in your life. Pondering God’s works helps fight spiritual amnesia and builds spiritual muscle memory.
Think about a time when you were amazed by God’s works. How did it impact your faith?
How can you make pondering God’s works a regular part of your spiritual practice?
What specific works of God can you meditate on today?
Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see Your works around me. Help me to remember and rejoice in Your faithfulness. Amen.
Day 3: Trusting God’s Character
Scripture: Psalm 111:3-4; Exodus 19:3-6
God’s works reveal His glory, majesty, and righteousness. Trust in His character, which remains steady even when circumstances are not. Reflect on how God’s righteousness was poured out on Jesus, allowing mercy to flow to us.
How has trusting in God’s character helped you in difficult times?
What attributes of God do you find most comforting?
How can you deepen your trust in God’s character today?
Prayer: Gracious God, thank You for Your unchanging character. Help me to trust in Your righteousness and mercy. Amen.
Day 4: Experiencing God’s Provision
Scripture: Psalm 111:5a; Matthew 6:31-33
God promises to provide for those who live in reverent awe of Him. Understand that provision is a promise, not predictability, and trust that God supplies what you need to do His will.
Reflect on a time when you experienced God’s provision. How did it strengthen your faith?
How can you live with a heart of gratitude for God’s daily provision?
What areas of your life do you need to trust God’s provision more fully?
Prayer: Lord, I trust in Your provision. Help me to live with gratitude and faith, knowing You supply all my needs. Amen.
Day 5: Anchored in God’s Covenant
Scripture: Psalm 111:5b; Psalm 111:10
God always remembers His covenant, and His remembrance is active faithfulness. The fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom, leading to a life of joy and obedience.
How does knowing God remembers His covenant give you peace?
In what ways can you cultivate a healthy fear of the Lord in your life?
How can you apply the wisdom of fearing God in your daily decisions?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your covenant love. Teach me to fear You and live wisely, anchored in Your promises. Amen.
