This five-day devotional will be taking a deeper dive into the sermon from Sunday, March 15, 2026. Together, we will explore the themes of perseverance and faith that are emphasized in Acts 14 and how we can apply these teachings in our own lives as we navigate times of challenge and growth.
Day 1
Acts 14:8-10
As we begin this devotional journey, we look at the miraculous healing of the man in Lystra. This story reminds us of the incredible, transformative power of faith and obedience. In moments where hope seems lost and movement unlikely, faith can lead to profound change and renewal. Just as the man leaped at Paul’s command, we are invited to rise in faith and trust in God's providence.
Yet, with movement and change come challenges. When faced with recognition and misunderstanding from the crowds, Paul and Barnabas redirect attention back to God, refusingpersonal glorification. As they ground the power in God’s providence, we too must discern where we anchor our victories and how we navigate applause and rejection alike.

Day 2
Acts 14:19-20
Day two focuses on resilience under pressure. After gaining temporary adoration from the crowd, Paul faces severe opposition, resulting in his stoning and being left for dead. This abrupt change in circumstances highlights the fragile nature of public approval and the steadfastness required in discipleship. Paul's determination to continue his mission despite adversity is a testament to his commitment to the gospel.
In life, we often encounter swings of acceptance and rejection. This scripture encourages us to find our identity not in fleeting affirmations but in Christ. Our resilience grows not from the absence of difficulty but through enduring and trusting in the consistency of God's presence and purpose in our lives.

Day 3
Acts 14:21-22

Paul and Barnabas, having faced trials, return to the cities that once rejected them to encourage and strengthen the disciples. This act embodies the courage and love inherent in the gospel message, one that does not shy away from adversity but transforms it into a catalyst for communal growth.
In our own lives, there are often places where we have experienced hardship or rejection. This passage challenges us to consider whether revisiting these spaces, equipped with the lessons and strength gained, can serve to build others up and bring hope where it may be lacking. Such perseverance and love redefine what it means to be steadfast in faith.

Day 4
Acts 14:23-24
On day four, we explore the theme of leadership and formation in the church. In times of stress and pressure, true leaders emerge not through self-promotion but through endurance, clarity, and the willingness to guide others. Appointed elders in each church signify a move from mere movement to sustained maturity, emphasizing that leadership is rooted in service and stability.
This passage encourages us to reflect on our own capacity to lead and serve within our communities. It highlights the importance of being open to God's calling, which may come quietly through faithful dedication rather than grandiose displays. We are reminded that anyone, regardless of background or spotlight, can rise to lead through consistent faithfulness and love.

Acts 14:27-28

Paul and Barnabas return to Antioch, sharing the remarkable work God has done through them, opening the door of faith to the Gentiles. This act of gathering and sharing emphasizes the importance of community and testimony in building a resilient and faithful church.
Our stories and experiences, when shared in honest reflection, encourage and inspire others. They remind us of God's faithfulness and the continued presence of the gospel's transformative power. As we conclude this devotional, we are encouraged to open our hearts and our lives, allowing God to use our stories for His glory.
