Been Through It Devotional

5 Day Devotional

This five-day devotional will be taking a deeper dive into the sermon from Easter Sunday, April 20th. We will explore the profound theme of Jesus Too, examining how He empathizes with our struggles and walks alongside us in our pain.

Day 1

Scripture: Hebrews 4:15-16

As we start our devotional journey, we reflect on the immense truth that Jesus understands our struggles deeply. The reality of human pain is not foreign to Him; He walked this earth, felt betrayal, loss, and isolation. When we face hardships, we can find solace in knowing that our Savior can empathize with our experiences. He has felt the sting of injustice and the sorrow of separation, allowing us to approach Him not as a distant deity but as a compassionate friend.

In acknowledging our struggles, we find the courage to open our hearts to Jesus. He invites us to bring our burdens, to share our pain, and in return, we receive His grace and strength. Remember, it’s okay to feel vulnerable because He has walked that same path and is always ready to provide comfort and healing.

  • What burdens am I carrying that I need to bring to Jesus?

  • How can I remind myself that I am not alone in my struggles?

  • What does it mean for me to approach the throne of grace with confidence?

  • Pray for the courage to share your struggles with Jesus.

  • Ask for His peace to fill your heart, knowing He understands your pain.

Day 2

Scripture: Psalm 103:14

The Bible reminds us that Jesus knows our frame and remembers that we are dust. This means He recognizes our weaknesses and understands our limitations. When we face trials, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and isolated, but Jesus calls us to remember that we have a Savior who intimately knows our journey. He doesn't dismiss our struggles; He meets us where we are, ready to uplift and empower us through His Spirit.

  • In what ways have I felt disconnected from Jesus during tough times?

  • How can I lean on my community for support in my struggles?

  • What does it mean to me that Jesus understands my limitations?

  • Pray for deeper connections with those around you.

  • Ask Jesus to help you embrace your vulnerabilities and trust in His strength.

Day 3

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

As we move through this devotional, let us focus on the comfort that Jesus offers us in times of need. He is our ultimate source of comfort, having endured trials that test the very fabric of our being. Jesus does not simply sympathize with our struggles; He provides tangible support and consolation in our suffering, helping us to stand firm and persevere.

Furthermore, the comfort we receive from Jesus empowers us to extend that same comfort to others. Each of us has a story of pain and triumph, and as we share our experiences, we become vessels for Jesus's love and healing. Let us use what we've learned through our own trials to lift others who are wandering in darkness, echoing the powerful truth of Jesus Too.

  • Who in my life needs to experience the comfort that only Jesus can give?

  • How has Jesus’ comfort equipped me to comfort others?

  • In what ways can I actively share my story of triumph in Him?

  • Pray for opportunities to share your story with others.

  • Ask for God to help you be a source of comfort in someone else's life.

Day 4

Scripture: Romans 8:28

Reflecting on God's overarching plan for our lives, we recognize that even in our darkest moments, He is working things together for our good. This truth reassures us that our sufferings are not in vain, and every tear we shed serves a purpose in His divine narrative. Jesus experienced the ultimate betrayal, abandonment, and suffering, yet from that profound darkness emerged the light of resurrection and hope.

Believing in God's sovereign goodness allows us to endure knowing that our pain will lead to a greater glory. We can trust that God has a plan for us, cultivating perseverance and character as we navigate life’s challenges. By placing our hope in His promises, we find resilience in trials, equipped to soar above our circumstances.

  • How can I cultivate hope in the midst of trials?

  • What specific areas of my life do I need to surrender to God's purposes?

  • In what ways can I testify to God’s goodness in my life despite challenges?

  • Pray for a renewed perspective on your struggles.

  • Ask God to reveal His purpose for your pain and guide you toward hope.

Day 5

Scripture: Philippians 4:13

As we conclude our devotional, we hold onto the empowering truth that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Jesus’s resurrection is not just a historical event; it signifies the power available to us, enabling us to overcome our challenges. He does not leave us to fend for ourselves, but rather invites us into a relationship where we can harness His strength to face life’s obstacles with courage and confidence.

The resurrection symbolizes new beginnings, and as we embrace this reality, we are reminded that with every ending comes a fresh start. The struggles we face today prepare us for the victories of tomorrow, transforming us into vessels of hope and resilience. Let us boldly step into the calling that Jesus has for our lives, proclaiming that through Him, we can rise above!

  • What area of my life do I need to surrender to Jesus for His strength?

  • How can I embrace new beginnings in my journey with Christ?

  • What does it mean for me to declare that I can do all things through Christ?

  • Pray for courage to face challenges with Jesus’s strength.

  • Ask God to help you recognize and seize new opportunities in your life.
