Our Unstoppable God Devotional
5 Day Devotional
This five-day devotional will be taking a deeper dive into the sermon from Sunday, June 1. We’ll explore the truths about our unstoppable God as shared through Stephen's powerful message in Acts, encouraging you to recognize His movement in your life and the world around you.
Day 1
Scripture: Acts 7:2
In the beginning of Stephen's speech, we see a vivid portrayal of God's glory breaking through human limitations. Stephen reminds us that God appeared to Abraham far from the land He had promised him, and this is a profound message for us today. It signifies that God's involvement in our lives is not restricted to our expectations or familiar boundaries. Just as He acted outside of the expectations of His people then, He continues to work beyond our imaginations now. Are we prepared to recognize His glory in the unexpected moments of our own lives?
When we realize that God is not confined to our rituals or routines, it opens our eyes to the miracles He performs every day. The essence of our faith is to see and acknowledge that He is present everywhere, even in the chaos and confusion of life. Our challenge is to keep our hearts open to recognize His movements and join Him rather than limiting our understanding of what He can accomplish in and through us.
Where have you seen God's glory in your life recently?
How do your expectations of God limit your perception of His power?
What steps can you take to be more aware of God's presence in the unexpected?
Ask God to help you see His presence in your everyday life.
Pray for the strength to break free from limitations you’ve placed on Him.
Day 2
Scripture: Acts 7:51
In Acts, Stephen boldly addresses the stubbornness of the people, reminding us that God often uses those deemed unacceptable to fulfill His purpose. This invites us to reflect on the nature of rejection in our own lives. Have we ever considered that our setbacks, the moments when we feel overlooked or undervalued, could be the very soil where God plants the seeds of His greater plans? Just as Joseph's and Moses' stories reveal, God often employs the rejected to advance His kingdom.
This realization encourages us to change our perspective on our struggles. Instead of seeing them as barriers, we can view them as gateways to our growth and transformation. God's love operates in mysterious ways, making use of every experience—good or bad—to propel us forward into His purpose. What incredible shifts could occur if we embrace our rejections as the means through which God often works to fulfill His plan in our lives?
What rejections have you experienced that God might use for His purposes?
How can you change your mindset about past setbacks to see God's intervention?
In what areas of your life do you need to allow God to redefine your perception of success?
Pray for understanding and insight into how your past experiences shape your faith journey.
Ask God to reveal the opportunities in your current challenges.
Day 3
Scripture: Acts 7:48
As Stephen recounts the history of God's people, we recognize that God is not limited to mere structures or places; He is always on the move, actively working within and among His creation. This truth is liberating! It means that no circumstance or location can confine His ability to bring about change. Stephen's speech challenges us to consider how we often box God into our own ideas of where and how He should operate.
Understanding that God transcends locations allows us to become more aware of His workings in our everyday lives. Whether in our workplace, home, or community, He is present and active. Are we looking for Him? Are we prepared to step out of our comfort zones to join Him in the places where He is already moving? Embracing this perspective can lead to incredible encounters with God and transformation in our communities.
In what places do you find it difficult to see God at work?
How can you be more open to recognizing God's presence in unconventional spaces?
Are there specific areas of your life where you're waiting for God to move?
Pray for eyes to see God's movements in your daily routine.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to join God in the work He is doing around you.
Day 4
Scripture: Acts 7:52
Stephen highlights the truth that resistance cannot thwart God's purpose. Even in the face of hostility and opposition, God’s will marches forward unhindered. This teaches us a critical lesson about trust and surrender; no matter how fierce the resistance we face might appear, it is not stronger than God's plans for us. In moments when we feel overwhelmed by opposition, we need to remember that the fight is not ours but God's.
This understanding empowers us to push through challenges, confident that we are aligning ourselves with God's unstoppable momentum. We can find peace knowing that when we stand firm in faith, God’s purpose will eventually prevail. Our present struggles may lead to greater victories, proving that His plans are always good—even when we cannot yet see it.
What opposition in your life feels insurmountable right now?
How can you trust God to turn your resistance into opportunity?
What does it mean for you to stand firm in faith despite opposition?
Pray for strength in the face of adversity, trusting in God's purpose.
Reflect on a time when God turned opposition into something good in your life.
Day 5
Scripture: Acts 7:56
As we conclude this devotional, we reflect on Stephen’s final moments when he sees Jesus, the Saving King. His vision serves as a powerful reminder of the hope and assurance we find in Christ. Jesus stands for us when the world stands against us, and this is the essence of our faith: that in every impossible situation, our Savior is present and active, making a way for us. Stephen’s ultimate act of faith in his darkest hour encourages us to hold firm to the promise that God’s unstoppable love and purpose are always at work in our lives.
This week, we have explored how God works through our brokenness, how He moves in unexpected places, and how opposition cannot thwart His plans. As we step forward into our lives, let us carry this good news: no matter what challenges we may face, we can find strength in the truth that our God is unstoppable. This is an invitation to live boldly as His witnesses in a world that desperately needs His light and love.
What is one area of your life where you need to acknowledge Jesus as your Saving King?
How can you carry the assurance of God's presence into your daily interactions?
What might it look like to join God where He is moving in your community?
Pray for the courage to share your story of God's faithfulness with others.
Ask God to help you embody His love and grace in every situation you encounter.
