5 Day Devotional

This five day devotional will be taking a deeper dive into the sermon from Sunday, October 4, 2026. We will explore the transformative power of experiencing God personally, moving from simply knowing about Him to truly knowing Him. Each day will guide you closer to discovering the fullness of God in your life.

Day 1

Acts 19:1–10

The book of Acts reminds us of the moment where knowledge meets experience. Paul encounters twelve disciples in Ephesus who had faith but had not received the Holy Spirit. This day asks us to consider what it means to have not just knowledge of the Spirit, but an encounter with God's presence. It's a call to be filled with the Spirit, transforming our beliefs into living faith.

Understanding and engaging with this scripture reveals how God desires us to know Him in a relational and impactful way, rather than abstractly. Just as Paul's message expanded beyond information to transformation, God invites you to move beyond the boundaries of hearing about Him to experiencing His presence daily.

  • What barriers might be preventing you from experiencing God more fully?

  • How do you distinguish between knowing about God and knowing Him personally?

  • Reflect on a time when your faith was challenged to become more experiential.

  • Ask God to reveal areas in your life where you need a deeper experience of His presence.

  • Pray for openness to the Holy Spirit's work in your heart and life.

Day 2

Colossians 1:7, 2:1, 4:13

The Colossians were taught by Epaphras, a disciple who learned under Paul. This passage points out the importance of community and mentorship in our spiritual journey. Faith is nurtured not in isolation but through life-giving relationships within the body of Christ. As each of us grows, we are given the responsibility to pass on what we have learned to others.

This day challenges us to reflect on how our relationships influence our walk with God. Are we encouraging others as Paul did or as Epaphras sacrificed his time to be equipped and then to equip others? What legacy are you building through the relationships in your life?

  • Identify who in your community can journey with you and help you grow spiritually.

  • Consider how you can be a mentor and disciple others in your sphere of influence.

  • How can you actively nurture your spiritual relationships this week?

  • Pray for wisdom and guidance in forming Christ-centered relationships.

  • Seek God’s strength to be a disciple-maker in your community.

Day 3

John 19:30

The words "It is finished" signify completion and fulfillment of Jesus' work on the cross, a pivotal moment in salvation history. It reminds us of the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice and the new life we receive through His Spirit. Understanding this truth moves us from knowing about the cross to experiencing its power in our lives.

Today, contemplate the depth of what Jesus accomplished. His sacrifice was a gift, making the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence available to us. How does this change the way you live your daily life? As we accept this gift, we no longer hold onto a mere photograph of Jesus’ work but live fully in its reality.

  • What does "It is finished" mean in your personal context today?

  • How does the finished work of Christ empower you practically?

  • Identify areas in your life where you struggle to live in Christ's finished work.

  • Give thanks for the completed work of Jesus in your life.

  • Pray for a renewed understanding of the implications of the cross in your daily walk.

Day 4

Acts 19:8–10

This passage shows Paul expanding God’s kingdom through nontraditional means. When the synagogue doors closed, he didn’t stop preaching; he simply moved to a rented room. Often, God calls us to work within the spaces we find ourselves, using the opportunities at hand to further His message.

Reflect on how God is calling you to be resourceful with the underutilized "rooms" in your life— whether in your career, home, or community. How can you transform these spaces into places where God’s word reaches more people, even if at first glance they appear unconventional?

  • Identify any unexpected places or opportunities where you can share the gospel.

  • Do you see resistance as a redirection to new opportunities in your faith mission?

  • How can you make everyday, ordinary spaces sacred for God’s work?

  • Pray for creative vision to see resources as God sees them.

  • Ask God for courage to step out in unfamiliar settings to share His love.

Day 5

Ephesians 1:13-14

Emphasizing the assurance of the Holy Spirit, this passage comforts believers in their relationship with God. Sealed by the Spirit, our identity and hope are secured in Christ. While the experiences of faith may change, His promise remains constant and available to all who believe.

Consider how being sealed with the Spirit transforms your outlook and purpose. This assurance encourages believers to live boldly, knowing their future is rooted in God’s unbreakable promise. Reflect on how this perspective shifts your approach to life’s uncertainties and challenges.

  • In what ways can you rest in the assurance of your sealed identity in Christ?

  • How does this perspective influence your response to daily struggles?

  • Consider how the certainty of the Spirit empowers your witness.

  • Offer gratitude for the security found in God's promise.

  • Pray for a heightened awareness of the Spirit's presence in your life.
