Salt and Light Devotional

5 Day Devotional

This five-day devotional will take a deeper dive into the sermon from Sunday, March 16. We will explore the theme of evangelism, looking at how sharing our faith not only strengthens our relationship with God but also opens the door for others to encounter Him.

Day 1

Scripture: Matthew 5:13-16

Reflection: Jesus declares that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. This identity is not something we earn; it is who we are because we belong to Jesus. Reflect on what it means to be salt and light in your daily life. How can you preserve goodness and illuminate truth in your surroundings?

Prayer: Lord, help me to embrace my identity as salt and light. Show me how to influence my world positively and shine Your light in the darkness. Amen.

Action Step: Identify one area in your life where you can be more intentional about being salt and light. It could be at work, in your family, or within your community.

Day 2

Scripture: John 4:7-10 (Jesus and the Samaritan Woman)

Reflection: Jesus began His conversation with the Samaritan woman with a simple request for water. This opened the door to a deeper spiritual discussion. Consider how you can start good conversations that lead to meaningful connections.

Prayer: Father, give me the wisdom to engage in conversations that matter. Help me to listen well and speak with kindness and truth. Amen.

Action Step: Initiate a conversation with someone you encounter today. Ask about their life and listen attentively, showing genuine interest.

Day 3

Scripture: 1 John 4:7-12

Reflection: God's love is transformative. As we experience His love, we are called to share it with others. Reflect on how you can embody God's love in your interactions, allowing His light to shine through you.

Prayer: Lord, fill me with Your love so that I may love others as You have loved me. Let my actions reflect Your character. Amen.
Action Step: Perform an act of kindness for someone today, demonstrating God's love in a tangible way.

Day 4

Scripture: Colossians 4:5-6

Reflection: As we build relationships, opportunities for God conversations naturally arise. These are moments to share how God is working in your life. Reflect on how you can transition from good conversations to God conversations.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, guide me in knowing when and how to share about You. Give me the courage to speak of Your goodness and faithfulness. Amen.

Action Step: Be attentive to opportunities to share your faith story with someone who is open to hearing it.

Day 5

Scripture: Romans 1:16-17

Reflection: The gospel is the good news that Jesus is the Saving King. That reality is God's power that saves people. As we share our stories, we invite others into God's redemption story. Reflect on the importance of bringing Jesus into your conversations and how he can transform lives.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for the good news of the gospel. Help me to share it boldly and lovingly, trusting in Your power to save. Amen.

Action Step: Invite someone to join you for a church service where they can experience the love of Christ and hear the gospel message.
